Greek Life and the Athletic department teamed up to support some incredible athletes at the 2015 State Fall Games in Gainesville, Ga. Close to 1,500 athletes competed in four sports: bocce ball, softball, cycling and golf. With over 80 volunteers, Georgia State truly made an incredible impression. Acting as cheerleaders and game facilitators, these Panthers took pride in giving back to their community. As volunteers, this group received far more than they could have ever contributed. This experience not only gave two departments the opportunity to foster new relationships but also inspired a sense of community that welcomed diversity, inspired service and instilled commitment.

This volunteer experience was especially significant for the members of Alpha Xi Delta women’s Fraternity, because they were there to support a very specific athlete, a sister’s brother. When the sister proposed to her chapter about attending the event, she received an out pouring of love and support from her sorority sisters. The crowd reaction was amazing. What was more astounding was the inspiration their support sparked. Athletes were motivated to try their hardest in recognition of their new fans. This experience was nothing short of amazing and truly one of kind.
